This leopard will be killed by a porcupine

I worked for a veterinarian in the Texas Hill Country and porcupines are no joke. I know in the states, The quills aren’t as long as in Africa and South America but it’s horrifying to care for an animal who has a face full of quills, All the same.

If you do happen to get jabbed or your dog or cat does, The easiest way to remove the quills is to cut them at the end or in half as the quills are full of gas. Cutting them makes them much easier to remove.

If you get “quilled”, Remove the quills with the least amount of damage, Cut the quill on the tube section prior to trying to pull it out. Cutting the tube allows it to deflate slightly which allows the barbs to retract slightly.
